How To Replace Your Sink With A New One?

During the remodeling of your kitchen and the associated plumbing system, it is always wise to get the replacement of the kitchen sink done along with the entire operation.
Instead of availing the services of a plumber straightaway, take the task of replacing the kitchen sink under your authority. Replacing a kitchen sink doesn't require one to be an expert and even a novice with a wise head on his shoulders can successfully complete the task.
Beforehand select the new sink for your kitchen taking into account the space available for the sink as well as the material of the sink. Start off the campaign by taking measurements of the old sink and how much space it acquired in the middle. Based on these measurements, sort out the new sink type. Nowadays stainless sinks are preferred over other sinks because they are less susceptible to corrosion and decay. Also they fit properly into the counter top leveling the upper surface of the sink with the counter top. Hence no voids are created between the counter top and the sink edges easing the cleaning task. The clips attached well to the sink beneath the fixture render a rigid setup as well.
Porcelain sinks, due to their rolled edges and heavy body, rest automatically into the counter top thus eliminating the need of any additional clips. But they offer some disadvantages as well, one of which is due to their rising edges. Since the edges rise a bit above the surface of the counter top hence cleaning off the debris from the counter top becomes tough.
Kick off the actual task by turning off the water supply to the sink. Detach the drainage pipe from the sink with the assistance from wrenches and pliers. Make sure that the finishing of the screws is not altered.
Remove the clips underneath the sink with the help of a special tool called as the Hudec wrench. Though the normal screwdrivers and the wrenches would also do the job. Next, clean off the plaster/cement from the edges of the old sink.
Take out the sink from the fixture by pushing it upwards. Take it out slowly and place it in a convenient location. Insert the new sink into place and attach clips to it.
Plaster the outlining of the sink well to fix it into the setup. Screw the threaded drain pipe to the sink and apply Teflon tape on it. If however any complication is encountered then a plumber has to be called to the rescue.
