How To Stay Safe While Ringing In The New Year Holiday

New Year's Eve is one of the days in the year when injuries and deaths occur in high amounts. Of course, most of the issues revolve around the amount of beer or other beverages that are consumed on the night. There are, however, ways in which people can still drink a fair amount and still be safe at the same time. This article lists precautions you should consider to make sure you and your family stay uninjured during New Year's Eve festivities.
1. Try your best to keep your car at home, if you possibly can. There are hundreds of people who drive while intoxicated on New Year's Eve, so it is best not to keep yourself away from the roads unless you absolutely have to or if you are at a friend and family member's house that is close to yours. Now, if you do choose to go to a friend's house, try to go early and make an effort to not to drink very much alcohol. For example, even if you are under the legal limit to drive a car, alcohol can still slow your reaction time, so if you are in your automobile and someone else is over the limit, you can make sure your reaction time is at the best it can possibly be to hopefully avoid another drunk driver.
2. Another suggestion would be that if you are going somewhere close, maybe choose to walk instead of using a vehicle to get there and stay on the sidewalks. This way you can avoid the cars altogether and you do not have to worry as much about how much alcohol you drink.
3. If you have been drinking a fair amount, try to stay away from any kind of fire or fire cracker items. People can really hurt themselves when using these dangerous things after drinking a lot. It has been reported by lots of hospitals that, after car accidents, fire-related injuries are the second most common type of injury on New Year's Eve.
4. If you decide to go out somewhere to a bar, club, or downtown, be aware of what you are doing. Usually, in large cities, crime rates really go up on New Year's Eve because there are so many people no one tends to notice a criminal. Keep your purse close to you and try not to bring large amounts of money with you, make use of the ATMs that are sure to be readily available. It is really imperative that you keep your common sense about you if you decide to go away from home on New Year's Eve whether it be to a friend's or family member's home or to a big party in some downtown area. The number of individuals who drive under the influence and the amount of people who commit crimes increases dramatically every New Year's Eve. If you take only a small amount of precautions, it could save you a trip to the hospital during the New Year holiday.
